FD GM + Sec. 1 Orientation + FLINT 5 Graduation

Hi everyone! How's your Christmas?

We just had our Flint 5 bbq few days ago at Pasir Ris Park. It was a successful and fun BBQ. =)

Ok I shall talk straight to the point.

We will be having our Future Division General Meeting (FD GM) and Sec. 1 orientation on…

4^th January 2009, Sunday @ SSA HQ ICA

On the very same day and venue, we will also have our very first Sec.1 Orientation Programme in the morning at HQ basement.

This will consider as our FLINT 5 project, which means that the whole FLINT 5 people needs to be involved in helping out and plan the sec. 1 orientation.

So let me inform here some things that we will be doing on the day itself.

The orientation will start at 9am (the timing will be further confirmed on a later date).

We will be expecting at around 300+ sec.1 students (provided if each of every sec. 1 students from PD come). So it's considered as a big group of people. That's why we need the help of many people from us. ^^

Mainly, we will be in charge of arranging them into smaller groups by their FD zone and importantly, their school region. For example, we will group students whose schools are located near each other, like Sengkang sec, compassvale sec, nan chiau high, north vista all under one group. Then maybe yio chu kang sec, ang mo kio sec, deyi sec etc. The reason for this is coz FD wanna start a buddy system where by we will be informed which sec. 1 students are studying in schools near your region. We will be like their big brothers and sisters guiding them through their sec. 1 life, as well as get them involved in our FD activities as they are new to FD. So once we get all the details of their schools, we will pair you all up with the sec. 1 students.

Secondly, we also have to in charge of the Ice breaking games. So far we had decided to play 2 games. Time limit for ice breaking is 30mins including briefing and introducing to one another. We will be using the ice breaking games that we played during our flint outing, which is "concentration" and one more new ice breaking game (there's no name for this game yet.. xP) We will play this game within the group itself. For each group of students, we will need 2 flint people to join in them.. to facilitate the ice breaking. Each group will have about 15 students, depend on how many students are coming.

Thirdly, we will also have to conduct a dialogue with the students. There will be 2 dialogues. The topic for the 1^st dialogue is for those sec. 1 students to ask question regarding FD and also their new secondary school life. We also will share our sch experience like choosing cca and coping with so many subjects etc. The group now will be split according to your school region and also we will be attached to the group according to our school region too. The 2^nd dialogue will be conducted in your FD zone, together with your FD zone adult ICs.

So ya, to conclude right, we need every flint 5 people to come down on the 4 jan 2009. The orientation will lasts the whole morning, followed by the FD GM in the afternoon. On the FD GM, we will be receiving our graduation certificate, to say that we had passed this flint course and we will be appointed as Student IC (SIC) in your zone. =D cool right?

just to update on Friday's x'mas party & some other upcoming events .
well , for those who're coming for the x'mas party which is held on the 26th dec .
Pls note that there will be a gift exchange programme ,
whereby everyone would get a gift ranging from $5-$10 .
Nothing less than 5 or more than 10 , so as to be fairly equal .
& to those who might not be going on the 26th , but had paid the money ,
pls let us know latest by tmr night (25th Dec) , so that changes could be made .
& also to those who have not paid , pls remember to bring $6 on that day .
F.Y.I , this bbq is a free roam event . it's up to u how u want to enjoy ,
but pls be aware that safety is always FIRST !

Great Success of Outing + Updates of coming activities

Finally the outing is over!.

Let us all thanks the outing commitee people for planning this outing. =)

But, it's not over yet! There are some other activities coming up for us!

Firstly...

For those who had register for the Chinese New Year Lightup Dance,

The first practice will be on 2 December 2008, 1930hrs at SYC.

Secondly,

There will be a FLINT 1-5 gathering meeting, which is organised by our senior batch of FLINT. FLINT 5 is jointly invited to join.

It will be held on 10 January 2009, 1000hrs to 2030hrs.

It would be a whole day event, meals will be provided.

For those FLINT 5 people who are interested, please sms/call Ivan from FLINT 3 at 92310114 and tell him your name, YMD/YWD, Zone, which flint batch, contact number, email and indicate any special diet (vegetarian, food allergy, etc)

Updates on Daimokukai

Hi all.
Yesterday, Friday night we had our flint 5 outing daimokukai.
Total of 17+ students turned out at Senja Kaikan Moonlight Room.
We had chanted for the success of this coming outing, fine weather and accident free!
=)

We had also brief those students who are here what to expect of the outing.
For those who did not turn up yesterday, these are some of the things that we told the rest..

Time to Report: 8am (Please try to be punctual)

Venue: Vivo City Level 3 Sky Park

Attire: T-shirt, Shorts, and a pair of comfortable footwear. (Please do not wear jeans as it will be very uncomfortable)

Things to bring: A Pen, Money (At least $3 for admission), extra clothings (in case you might get wet after the whole outing). Try to bring as little things as possible because you will be carrying your belongings along throughout the whole amazing race.

Things to take note: PLEASE HAVE YOUR BREAKFAST BEFORE COMING FOR THE OUTING! We don't wish to see anybody fainting in the middle of the amazing race.

Ya so the outing is mainly going to be like a "Amazing Race" kind of it. We will regroup everyone so that we get to know other people from other groups.
Each group will have about 8-10 people.

Every group will have to complete a certain assignment in each station, in order to proceed.

And currently, the outing committee is also helping out the Primary Division in the Primary Division Anniversary. =) isn't it cool? we are helping out as Student ICs.

So far, the committee had settled the logistical items, the rotation of groups around stations, and we are still in progress of arranging our manpower!

The reason why the planning meeting is at T3, is because Ghee Han wanna have a bonding session among the committee members, so he said that he had a "amazing race" game that need to be played at T3.
Hmm. I also don't know what is it about.

There's a change of venue and time for the planning meeting on 25 Oct Sat.

Time: 1230Hrs (12.30pm, GMT+8)

The reason is because Ghee Han wanted to brief us on our coming flint 5 project, and also PD needs our help for their PD anniversary. So that's why we need to be at TSC at 1230hrs. Hi all... How's your exam? Should be finished already right? (Except for those taking O & N Levels)

The Outing Committee had conducted a racky on 11 Oct (Last saturday) and we had decided on how the outing should be conducted.
Venue will be still the same: SENTOSA! (Which means we have to pay $3 for the admission fee)
Well, the committee still have lots of things to finalise! :)

Oh ya. We need the help of all the OICs and 2ICs to confirm their group members whether would they be able to make it on the 29 Nov for the outing.
So, all the OICs and 2ICs please find out.
And tell Yee Fong, the Logistics OIC asap, by 19 Oct.

The reason why we need to know the number of people is because of logistical arrangement, and because ghee han wanna try requesting Sentosa, whether would we be able to get discount for the admission fee! YEAH!

Flint 5 tee!!!!

Hi people!!! It's me again!!! Shermaine here!!!

Do you guys want to have a Flint 5 tee??? If you want and if we can manage to get it done by the outing, we could wear it for the outing!!! Wouldn't it be so cool??? (Okay, i'm being too enthu)

Please comment on the idea of having a Flint 5 tee and give us suggestions on what you want for the Flint 5 tee (the material, colour, budget etc.). Designs are highly welcomed!!!

And then once everything is confirmed, we would need the help of the OICs of all the groups to collect the money and record the size.

So please spread the word to everyone asap so we would know what everyone thinks and be able to get the shirts done before the outing (or maybe not?). Best would be for everything to be confirmed by 18Oct so the whole thing won't be too rush. :)

Hi all! Few days had passed since the last training for Flint 5, isn't it?
If you all are observant enough, the downloading of group presentations are actually available. It's on top of the posts, above the FD calendar and below the links.
Click on the icon to download those presentation.

However, most of the group still have not send their presentation over. Hence unable to upload all of them yet. OICs, 2ICs or any group members who are holding on to their presentation powerpoint, please sent it to Jian Zhong/Jia Hui at spritual-moments93@hotmail.com/Jiahui-24@hotmail.com asap, so that everyone is able to get a soft copy of the presentation. About the Outing...
so far.. the Outing Committee had yet to finalise the full details of the outing. We can only finalise it at around mid-october. So please check this blog often ok?

Some sneak preview:
The outing will be a whole day event, starting from morning to evening.
According to Ghee Han, he would want to have a Kenshu during the morning till afternoon, so perharps we might spend the morning in SYC having our Kenshu.
We will have lunch, probably at SYC, before departing for our outing.
As the outing had change to start from the afternoon instead, we might have to change the venue, after considering that sentosa might be crowded on saturday afternoon. (TO BE CONFIRM). Personally i hope the venue wont change. xP
The whole outing will end around evening, so be prepared for a whole day of activities!
The above mentioned is TO BE CONFIRM ALSO, but probably.
